What is DSS™ technology?
Detonation Suppression System (DSS™) is a patented technology developed to prevent explosions and spread of fires in any fuel storage system. It is made of a special alluminum alloy foil sheet 0.06 to 0.08 mm thick, consisting of aluminum and other metals. The final material is a mesh with specific size hexagonal shape openings approximately 2.5 mm thick available in mesh rolls of various sizes adaptable to any tank size and shape. Significant production improvements have been made under new patents, increasing the effectiveness of the material and making installation easier.

What does the DSS™ technology do?
DSS™ provides permanent protection to all types of fuel storage systems by preventing explosions and spread of fires caused by conventional explosives or incendiary weapons or other means, i.e., sparking, maintenance error, electrostatic discharge, crashes, or other type of accident. DSS™ will defeat any enemy or terrorism attacks intended to cause explosions of storage tanks and fuel tankers that can have catastrophic consequences including the loss of lives, disruption of operations, destruction of critical assets, financial losses, and/or environmental disasters. It also prevents explosions caused by hot temperatures in fuel storage tanks located in regions with hot climates.

Where can DSS™ be applied?
DSS™ can be applied to all types of fuel storage tanks including fuel tankers, fuel trucks, armored and personnel carrier vehicles, above-ground fuel storage tanks, fuel bladders, fuel depots, liquid natural gas (LNG) terminals, shipboard tanks, 55-gallon drums and other types of fuel containers.

What types of fuels does DSS™ protect?
DSS™ is effective with all types of flammable liquids and gases such as gasoline, jet fuel, kerosene, diesel, propane, ethane, methane, hydrogen etc. The DSS™ has no effect on the contents of the fuel tanks or containers.

How is DSS™ installed?
DSS™ is available in rolls of various sizes to adapt to any type of fuel tank. The rolls are inserted into empty fuel tanks and cover all space inside the tank. Although DSS™ covers all available tank space, it displaces only 1.6% of the fuel! The DSS™ material is very easy to install, and there are no recurring costs after installation. It is environmental friendly and has no effect on the contents of the fuel tanks or containers. DSS™ provides 24/7 protection of the fuel tank during the whole useful life of the tank.

Who can use DSS™?
The Department of Defense can use DSS™ to protect all fuel truck tankers, storage tanks at military bases, fuel drums and other containers, shipboard tanks, and the fuel tanks of all military vehicles, boats, helicopters and aircraft. The Department of Homeland Security, state and local governments and other agencies can use it to protect fuel trucks, tankers and fuel storage tanks at airports and seaports, cargo trains, LNG terminals, fuel depots, shipboard tanks and fuel trucks tankers, and public transportation vehicles. Energy, chemical and other companies can use it to protect their fuel or gas storage tanks and tankers. Auto and boat manufacturers can use it to protect the tanks of their vehicles.

Does DSS™ reduce fuel evaporation?
Yes! According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a 10,000 gallon fuel storage tank will lose 500-1,000 gallons of fuel due to evaporation every year. DSS™ will reduce fuel evaporation loss by more than 53%! This results in financial benefits through reduced fuel loss, improved safety, and reduced hydrocarbon emissions.

Does DSS™ help prevent tank corrosion?
Yes. The DSS™ is indifferent to non-polar chemical compounds. In conjunction with polar liquids (such as condensate) it acts as the sacrificial anode thus preventing tank corrosion.

Does DSS™ reduce swash in fuel trucks?
Yes. DSS™ reduces swash by about 80%, thus eliminating the need to install swash plates and other filling materials. DSS™ stabilizes the container and prevents accidents due to overturning.

Is it possible to perform welding on a fuel tank containing fuel equipped with DSS™?
Yes. It is absolutely safe to perform welding in a fuel tanks equipped with DSS™, even when they contain fuel inside! This is extremely important in emergency situations when welding a tank using normal procedures is not possible.

Does DSS™ help prevent explosions due to sparking?
Yes. Due to the electric conductivity of DSS™, static charging within the tank is virtually impossible. With DSS™ no explosion can occur due to sparking.
